Yamaha Freestyle Extravaganza. This was a Yamaha sponsored
PWC freestyle event with the top 6 PWC freestyle riders in
the United States, (Alexander Lenzi,
Jeffrey Dawson, Josh Lustic,
Chris Camps, John Havel and Eric Malone) Dave Reinhardt (wakeboard/airchair/barefoot/ramp
jump extroadinaire) and Al and Laura Nunes. The program featured a 50 minute
show of non-stop freestyle choreography, stunts (ramp jump freestyle tricks)
and a comedy routine with a great Yamaha sound system. 50,000 watts of lighting
illuminated the IJSBA World Championship event at the Crazy Horse Campgrounds
in front of a crowd of 3,000 people. Shawn Alladio of K38 Water Safety and
Alfredo Vilas-Boas did a comedy skit. The program introduced the entire Yamaha
2001 lineup of personal watercraft. My freestyle video 'On
Edge' was played during
the entire show in the Wamiltons booth. I produced a tandem freestyle routine
on my Yamaha SuperJet featuring Josh Lustic (monkey) and myself. The format
for the freestyle show consisted of various tricks: barrel rolls, ramp jumps
and signature tricks done by each freestyle rider. The crowd had a lot of entertainment
and the grandstands were filled. It was a very successful evening.
Eric
Malone Freestyle School. This course was advertised
prior to the IJSBA World Championships and open to 30 registrants.
It was an education on freestyle maneuvers
for those training
for amateur freestyle events. The participant was given an opportunity to
focus on one trick they needed assistance with for complimenting
their freestyle
routine. This was followed up with specific questions and answers. The entire
group benefited from observing or participating on the water and each student
brought their own personal watercraft to the event site. We had some very
talented athletes in the group. Some of the key components consisted
of body position,
balance positions and how to work up to the move they actually wanted to
learn by doing simpler tricks.
Autograph Sessions at World Finals. This was Saturday and
Sunday at the Slippery When Wet booth. Posters included the Eric
Malone Limited Edition. Select autograph sessions were also held
at
the Yamaha tent with all team riders.
IJSBA World Championship Raffle. In the Team
Faith booth a framed and matted poster was donated to the ministry
for raising funds. The final bidding price on the Eric
Malone poster sold for
$300.00
IJSBA World Championships Ramp Jump Competition. This was
a PWC freestyle show and distance competition. I placed 4th in the
distance event. I also performed a 'superman' off the Wamilton's ramp jump.
